Vacancy: Kaiārahi-He Pī Ka Rere

Facilitator-He Pī Ka Rere, Bay of Plenty Region

Full time 1FTE 40 hours per week
Fixed term to June 30 2022

Toi Tangata is looking for a Kaiārahi – He Pī Ka Rere to join our whānau and fill the position of our current Kaiārahi while on parental leave with the possibility of ongoing work. This role is in partnership with Toi te Ora – Public Health where you will be based in the Tauranga or Whakatāne office with the flexibility to work from home when appropriate from October 2021 – June 2022.

The Kaiārahi – He Pī Ka Rere will be responsible for facilitating the ongoing delivery of an evidence based kaupapa Māori movement programme to Māori-medium based early learning environments. The kaupapa draws on mātauranga Māori and other knowledge systems to inform the role of traditional activity in the growth and development of a child. This role requires supporting the increase of whānau and community participation in regular korikori/physical activity and whānau abilities to make healthy kai/food choices. 

The person we are seeking must have;

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound knowledge and passion for te reo me ōna tikanga
  • Understanding of Mātauranga Māori
  • Written skills including report writing
  • Knowledge of Nutrition and/or Physical Activity
  • Experience in training and facilitation
  • Commitment to the Toi Tangata kaupapa
  • Team player
  • Good relationship skills
