Mokopuna Korikori

Mokopuna Korikori

In a collaborative effort with ACC, Toi Tangata is working on a project centered around regulating tamariki. Utilising pūrākau and kōrero tuku iho, Toi Tangata is currently testing with whānau how culturally empowered nurture and play creates the best possible environment for tamariki, mokopuna development. Weaving play into the rhythm of the pā harakeke, through incorporating play into the daily whānau routine, weaving in pūrākau and whakapapa utilising natural and real resources.

This kaupapa supports mātua (parents), koroua (grandparents) and mātua whāngai to nurture the emotional tanks of our tamariki. That enables the tamariki to activate all they need to engage with the world that surrounds them through PLAY.

We have currently supported whānau through two unique wānanga around play and regulation through pūrākau and Atuatanga.

This approach enables us to support whānau to set and create an environment that stimulates unstructured organic play that in return strengthens the whatumanawa and pūmanawa.

From these positive experiences we have experienced unique engagement that enhances the Mauri within not only the tamaiti and the mokopuna but whānau too, projecting positive attributes of Ihi, Wehi and Wana.
