Geoff Kira (Ngāpuhi) is a Senior Lecturer and public health scientist in the School of Health Science, Massey University. He has a background in exercise physiology and biochemistry and facilitates local solutions to achieve health equity (social justice) by intervening at the interface of mātauranga Māori and science. Geoff has undertaken work in obesity, physical activity, cardiac rehabilitation and food security. He is currently working towards developing local sustainable food systems to promote community self-sufficiency, hauora, and a flourishing environment. Dr Kira is also seeking motivated persons to develop this area further in postgraduate research.
