Learn the fundamentals of co design principles that enable tangible outcomes towards food security & food sovereignty.
Kai (food) is not just nourishment, it is a livelihood embedded in values, tradition, and social and spiritual wellbeing.
This workshop will share knowledge on food security and food sovereignty, exploring conversations and design on the availability of safe kai in a socially acceptable way and the effects of global food companies on our wellbeing.
We will explore the role of pataka as a metaphoric codesign tool to guide conversations and design with the aim of participants having an awareness of how to address community needs to achieve tangible and positive outcomes, using mātauranga systems of kai including maramataka, karakia and whakatauki.
Participants will leave with a heightened awareness of the importance of food security and food sovereignty within the Kahungunu region and how to design an authentic kaupapa using co design approach.
