We are excited to share with you our new brand identity, which has been crafted to better visually capture who we are as an organisation. We had the privilege of collaborating with Ira, a Māori-owned and led creative agency, who very quickly understood the essence of Toi Tangata.
Our new brand identity retains the heart of our original tohu that was designed by the talented Tuteri Rangihaeata in 2013. The refined logo symbolises our commitment to self-reflection, whānau support, and advancing into the world with confidence and unity. The updated design is modernised and sleeker, ensuring it resonates with both our traditional values and modern practices.
We have also introduced a refreshed color palette and typography that better represents our dynamic organisation. Our original colours were strong, bold, and distinctly Māori, harking to mana motuhake colours of the 1980s when Toi Tangata was first established. To reflect the change in direction of our services since then, softer, more modern and playful colours were needed. Our updated palette was chosen to include and better express the mahi we do around taiao and tākaro. These colours were inspired by natural earth tones to reflect our origins and connection to the whenua, and symbolise our commitment to grounding our mahi in our culture. They embody the warmth, strength, and resilience of our people, reminding us of our responsibility to care for the taiao and honour our taonga tuku iho.
A completely new addition to our branding, our graphic, is inspired by Te Ara Poutama, representing our commitment to fostering healthy living and learning through kaupapa Māori based approaches to wellbeing. As we look upward towards our goals, our purpose is to elevate our whānau and hapori through mātauranga Māori, weaving ancestral wisdom into our kaupapa through kori, kai, tākaro and rangahau.
As part of our rebranding journey we are also thrilled to launch our new website, developed by design company, Fate Ltd, that reflects our refreshed visual identity.
As we move forward with these fresh visuals, we remain steadfast in our mission to develop, deliver, and champion kaupapa Māori-based approaches to physical activity and nutrition. Our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our communities is stronger than ever. Stay and have a look around our new website, we are delighted to welcome you to our new digital whare! Mauri ora ki a tātou.
