Toi Tangata is excited to present the Toi Tangata Hui ā Tau 2022. The hui will be hosted as a virtual event that will challenge participants to consider how we share the fruits of our work with our respective whānau and communities.
Drawing on the theme of “Hauhake i ngā hua”, this wānanga will explore the many fruits of our work as we come into the harvest season, making reference to the relations that helped us to find our way.
The hui is an opportunity to share and celebrate kaupapa Māori approaches to wellbeing. Over each of the three days a range of thought-provoking kōrero, interactive workshops, and panels will be presented. Each of these contributions will challenge hui participants to consider the relevance and potential for the concept of tini whetū ki te rangi to be applied across new and current initiatives that promote and encourage purposeful relationships with kai, wai, and kori within our communities.
Nō reira, e te iwi, nau mai, haere mai koutou.
Tā Mātou Kaupapa | Theme
The Toi Tangata Hui ā Tau 2022 draws inspiration from Hauhake i Ngā Hua. The theme speaks to ngā tohu o te rangi me te whenua, signs in the heavens and on the land, that signify the change in the kaupeka, or season,
Tini whetū ki te rangi
I tīkina ake tēnei ingoa nā runga anō i te hāngai o ngā whetū huhua ki ngā tohu o te whenua, o ngā wai, otirā, o te taiao whānui. He aha rā ngā kōrero a te taiao i tō iwi?
The opening line of this tauparapara calls us to set our point of reference amongst the stars, descending down amongst ngā tohu o te whenua, o te moana me te taiao whānui. Could it be the rising of Whānui, of Poutūterangi, or Panitinaku, or the setting of Matariki?
What do you and your whanau look to during this kaupeka, this season, to signify the coming of the kumara harvest?
This hui explores the many fruits of our work as we come into the harvest season, making reference to the relations that helped us to find our way. How will we share the fruits of our work with our whānau and communities? How do we preserve the fruits of our work to get us through the coming winter seasons and the unknown times ahead?
Wānanga Ipurangi | Online Event
One of the highlights of any hui is whanaungatanga, the ability to connect with our peers and to be present ā tinana and ā wairua. When considering meaningful connection in an online presence, we hope we can navigate this by honouring the wānanga space and fostering connectedness by acknowledging all aspects of whakapapa and holding steadfast to tikanga Māori.
Whakaurunga | Registrations
Registrations are now open and cost $75pp for the three days.
