Toi Tangata is excited about the training and professional development opportunities we have on offer to the sector this year. Our area of expertise is in reaching Māori communities through established networks and communicating technical nutrition information into useable knowledge for Māori community health workers.

Toi Tangata has been training communities and providers for 10 years and on average supports up to 100 community health workers each year through Toi Ako and Atua Matua wānanga. Due to the nature of these training packages Toi Tangata has an established network of community health workers engaging in training and ongoing support services. A qualification is currently being developed under Toi Ako in partnership with key stakeholders in the tertiary education and community health sectors with a view to launching an accredited Certificate of Indigenous Health, Physical Activity and Nutrition Leadership (Level 4). This is a significant development and builds on the aspirations of the Māori public health, sport and recreation workforce.
