Effectiveness of recruitment to a smartphone-delivered nutrition intervention in New Zealand: analysis of a randomised controlled trial

Recently published in the BMJ Open in collaboration with Ekaterina Volkova, Jo Michie,  Gerhard Sundborn, Helen Eyles, Yannan Jiang, and Cliona Ni Mhurchu, this article relates to one of the research programmes Toi Tangata has been part of called DIET. Toi Tangata participated in a strategic research role and also supported dissemination of the different findings. In this specific research project, now approximately two years ago, Toi Tangata also played a role in recruitment processes and the thinking around the research engagement with Māori.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a range of approaches used to recruit participants to a large smartphone-delivered nutrition labelling RCT (Randomised Controlled Trials) and to examine associations of recruitment strategy with ethnicity and other participant demographics.
